I've seen the misfortune of my era. Now I must erase what caused this misfortune! Duel Monsters!
What! DM didn't cause that!
Yeah we've made many friends from DM.
And saved the world many times over with those cards.
AND cause the fall of my era!

This should fit #13 on the 100 themes quite nicely. Paradox and his friends were the last of humans. He and friends had the misfortune of seeing there world/era fall as everyone died.
